Rowing Slow
The Secret for Going Fast and Getting What You Really Want from Rowing
( . . . yes, there is actually a secret. But it won’t be what you think. I promise)
We move incredibly fast in our world today. And most of us in the rowing world live, eat, breath, and sweat speed. We want to be fast, and then faster still. It consumes so many of us. For instance, just look at what we can do:
- know the speed of every stroke, updated 3 times per stroke
- analyze the exact time, distance, and course of every piece
- set our rest-time to be parceled out to the exact second
- have race results reported around the world in real-time as they happen
We can put watches on our oars, can connect to satellites to get our speeds, and our coaches can be in the boat with us by remote sensing to their launches. We have to be at the starting line no later than 2 minutes before race time to have 30 seconds in a race to have an equipment disaster and then have race winners determined by milliseconds.
Time is a huge part of our sport. Speed is even bigger—and FAST, and then even FASTER is our Holy Grail.
Nothing wrong with that. Except that so many of us are living in a constant state of velocity in our regular lives that when it comes to rowing we may not have the ability to continue accelerating.
Rowing Slow is my reaction to what I see as the effect of this constant state of velocity. This report is about enjoying and having an appreciation for rowing while at the same trying to find speed. It is about placing an appropriate focus on actually going fast by going slow.
Huh?
Yes, (here is the secret), going slow can help you go fast. Rowing slow can help you rowing faster.
It may sound silly, and may be it is.
Are you too busy to take a moment to take a look and see if there is anything to it? Got too many things to do? Cell phone, email, texting, and faxes demanding your attention right now? Then you need this more than you think.
Rowing Slow is about having the ability to go fast when you need it, and slow when it is called for.
It is about going faster by going slow (there is the secret again).
Okay, enough of that here. By now you are either interested or you are not. If you aren’t, best of luck. Now go get ‘em.
If you’re still here, then here is the deal.
This ebook is free. No money, no email, no nothing.
All I ask is this:
Read it and if you like it, or don’t like it, tell me. And then if you really like it pass it along to a friend, and tell them the same thing.
That’s it. Pure and simple.
I want nothing in return, except maybe a comment or a visit to my site. Otherwise it is all yours.
And . . . don’t speed read it. That just doesn’t sound quite right . . .
